So 61 parole agents are going to Stockton facility. Does anyone know the number of transfers awarded for correctional officer that voluntarily wanted to go there?
I don't know the number awarded, but they wanted about 200 officers between June and July. They are suppose to have 497 by November. I heard about 20 officers from DVI and about 40 officers from Mule Creek were awarded transfers. Also a reliable source told me via the hiring authority that they will start calling back laid off officers in the next week or two to start backfilling positions from transfers.
As for call backs on laid off officers, the union is telling me I am fubar. They are telling me that officers can transfer into the county I was laid off from. Parole agents can come in or anyone in state service. The only one I have priority over, according to them, is a new hire coming into that county. What? What? What happened to layoff by county?
Stockton needs 230 by june/july activation some may go before then. They will hire around 200 in Aug./Sep. around 200 in oct./nov. and left over to make up 655 in dec. I also heard from a reliable source that they are going to start rehires from reemployment list. Pelican Bay / High Desert will be options for sure and i'm hearing Mule Creek / DVI / and Stockton will also likely be available.

anoy @1217 Are you on the reemployment list? Did you update your status to statewide or choose specific counties? Do so if you haven't. You will be notified regardless to see if you are willing to relocate possibly. There is openings throughout the state based on transfers and attrition.
From what I've heard the staffing package for CHCF Stockton is going to be roughly 430 cops or so for a population of 1700-1900 inmates. As for the reemployment list, I was told back in February of 2012 that the state wouldn't be going back to that list until all the waves where complete and before a start of a new employee academy. They told me it could be between a year or two before any of those guys got called back. That is why I chose the take a transfer last March. My fellow officers and I had no idea how long it would take to get back down that way , but continued to keep working because the odds where better getting back if you where still working for the department rather than take the layoff. Like others transferees, I left family, spouse, and kids behind to keep my job without knowing how long I would be away from them (3.5 hours away). Lucky for some of us the transfer to Stockton came sooner rather than later. At my institution 36 applied with only 28 getting accepted. Some of these cops that didn't get in where from DVI and i feel they should have had some type of return right to that county because they took a transfer rather than a layoff. For those that took the layoff and that are on the reemployment list, I see the state backfilling the prisons that had officers leave. It's most likely the same prisons on the list that where offered back in February of last year. When the second round of hiring takes place for Stockton, I'm assuming they will open it up to state wide transfers again and those that couldn't get there now will have a better chance the second time. To all those that got accepted, congrats, it will nice to be home again every night with my family. Late!
Talked to hiring authority today and letters went out today to laid off officers asking them what institutions they would take re-employment at in priority order. They said they are committed to re-hiring laid off officers. That's all I know. They wouldn't say too much.
FYI. I have spoke directly to LT. S.C. in charge of the voluntary transfers to Stockton, and he stated they did not fill all 230 positions for activation, but came close. As for the reemployment list situation I have spoke directly with the person in charge of that, L.B. , and was told more info. will be out by today, Friday, or next week. As for having letters sent out to laid off officers already I have not heard that. I hope it is true.
So if you are paying attention you will see they awarded 165 transfers to the new medical facility, but they need approximately 200 officers. Officers are to report in June. Where are the other 35+ officers coming from? Hopefully they start re-hiring ladi off officers.
All, the following is the Depts. response to an inquiry made regarding the re-employment letter sent to laid off officers:
Hello, This is a general message being given regarding the inquiry letter dated February 8, 2013 pertaining to your interest in locations statewide. This letter is being revised and updated. So the letter you have received, we ask you to disregard and wait for the updated letter to be sent that will be more definitive of the opportunities moving forward. There will not be any job offers starting the week of March 4, 2013 as the initial letter stated. Stay tune for upcoming correspondence. Thank you…..

Looks Like Pelican Bay is only getting 7. All of the officers at Pelican Bay have been denied transfers to Stockton due to our low staffing levels.

What does "unsuccessful" mean on the spreadsheet? Does it mean you are layoff or wait until wave 4 comes along?
will there be an academy now or not?
Only 9 were actually approved to go to Stockton from DVI.
