KCRA 3 — FBI agents and sheriff's deputies in Arkansas arrested a man Monday who escaped from a
California state prison 36 years ago.
Michael R. Morrow, 70, escaped from the California Institution for Men, Chino, in San Bernadino County on Aug. 27, 1977, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Morrow had already served four years of his five-years-to-life sentence for two counts of first-degree robbery with the use of a firearm, officials said.
The CDCR's Special Service Unit, along with the FBI in Little Rock, Ark., and the Garland County Sheriff's Department developed new leads and apprehended Morrow at a home in Jessieville, Ark.
Morrow was using the alias Carl Frank Wilson while living in Arkansas.
Officers said Morrow is being held in the Garland County Jail and will eventually be extradited back to California to finish serving his sentence.
The CDCR will also refer the case to the San Bernadino County District Attorney's Office.
