U-T San Diego — Authorities are investigating after an inmate was stabbed at the state prison in Otay Mesa on Tuesday.
A correctional officer found the wounded inmate shortly before 7 p.m. at a minimum-security housing unit at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, prison spokesman Lt. Patrick Logan said Wednesday.
The inmate was lying on the ground next to stairs at the housing unit. He had several head and face injuries, apparently from being beaten, Logan said.
Medical staff examined the inmate and found that he had been stabbed several times. He was in stable condition on Wednesday, Logan said.
He said officers haven’t found a suspect in the case, but the investigation was continuing.
