Modesto Bee — A wanted parolee smashed a window and jumped out of a moving patrol car early Thursday in Salida, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department. But the parolee didn’t get far before deputies chased him down and took him into custody again.
The deputies first went looking for Wesley France, 31, shortly after midnight at a home in the 4000 block of Meadow Brook Lane, several blocks west of Highway 99 in Salida.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Jon McQueary said France was wanted on suspicion of violating parole in Santa Clara County. He also was wanted on suspicion of burglary and robbery in Santa Cruz County.
France ran when deputies arrived at his Salida home, McQueary said. The deputies quickly found France with the help of a canine unit.
France was handcuffed and placed in the back seat of the patrol car. As the patrol car was driving away, McQueary said, France shattered a rear door window.
McQueary said it was unclear how exactly France broke the window but that he used his body. He said France jumped out of the patrol car, which was likely moving slowly, about a block from his home. continue reading...
