Police are on the hunt for a robbery and sexual assault suspect.
Duree Anthony Beard, 30, allegedly broke into a home on Glen Oaks Drive, near Stockdale Highway and New Stine Road, on Thursday and sexually assaulted a woman and stole items of value, police said.
An arrest warrant has been obtained by police, charging Beard with sexual assault, home-invasion robbery and burglary.
Beard is on post-release community supervision as part of a controversial statewide prison realignment. Assembly Bill 109 went into effect in October 2011, transferring tens of thousands of inmates from the state's overcrowded prisons into county jails. The ripple effect has been thousands of criminals getting early prison releases and thousands more never being sent to prison in the first place, the Kern County District Attorney's office has said on multiple occasions.
Anyone with information helpful to the investigation is asked to call Detective Jeremy Blakemore at (661) 326-3557.
