Psychologist attacked by inmate at state prison

AP A staff psychologist is recovering after she was knocked unconscious in an attack by an inmate at a Central California prison.

The Fresno Bee says (http://bit.ly/1dRqsRN) the woman was escorting the inmate out of her office at Corcoran State Prison when he turned and punched her in the face, knocking her to the ground.

She was taken to a local hospital, where she was treated for head trauma and later released.

The inmate, 30-year-old Ryan Sanchez, was taken to a segregation unit.

The newspaper says he is a year into a two-year, eight-month sentence for indecent exposure.

In October a Corcoran prison guard was stabbed several times by an inmate with a homemade weapon. Three other guards were hurt when they responded to the stabbing. All have recovered.
