Visitors try to bring drugs to prison

IMPERIAL VALLEY PRESSAuthorities arrested two people visiting inmates who allegedly brought drugs into Calipatria State Prison over the weekend, according to a prison official.

On Saturday, Brandy Raymia Dykes, 22, of Lancaster was visiting inmate Charles Edward Nero, a convicted murderer.

Prison-visiting staff searched Nero and found two bindles on him, and Nero pushed one of the staff to the ground before running to try to flush a bindle down a toilet.

Staff was able to retrieve the second bindle which contained 46 grams of suspected marijuana.

Dykes consented to a vehicle search, and one bindle containing 35 grams of methamphetamine was found in her vehicle.

Nero was placed into the prison’s administration segregation unit while Bykes was booked into Imperial County Jail facing felony charges.

Prison staff injured in the incident were treated and released at a local hospital.

On Sunday, Olivia Ashley Cox, 19, of Rancho Cucamonga was visiting inmate Chae Wall, convicted of second-degree robbery.

Prison-visiting staff searched Wall and found that pockets had been sewn into his pants. Staff questioned and searched Cox who relinquished one bindle containing 86.2 grams of suspected marijuana.

Wall was placed into the prison’s administration segregation unit while Cox was booked into Imperial County Jail facing felony charges.

They only arrest visitors who are in ACTUAL possession of drugs, video evidence of passing them to an inmate and the inmate hopping them only gets their visiting suspended. Sad, but true.

Cut off all visits altogether. Safety and security should come before inmates getting visits. If they wanted to visit they would have stayed out of jail.
